Burlap and Baby's Breath!

I escaped for a few days to the wonderful and rustic Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri and have been more than inspired by all the natural outdoor beauty and serene setting of this captivating place! Sometimes it's the simplest things that truly matter and that is where today's inspiration came from! Burlap and Baby's Breath! Who would have ever thought that something so simple could transform any event into a magical memory!

Just a few things I love: Burlap ring bearer pillow- so simple and definitely a DIY project! Also, I love the simple sprits of baby's breath placed throughout- so clean and elegant! Lastly, you can never go wrong with mason jars! A little raffia and a floating candle and you have a nice little accessory for any occasion!

Life is really simple, but we insist on making
 it complicated.  ~Confucius

"Cocktails and Cupcakes"

"Sweetin"up your next summer shin-dig by adding a chic and fabulous theme! It can be something so simple like "Cocktails and Cupcakes," but I guarantee you- your guests will rave about it!

A few simple tips for planning your next themed event:
- Think fun, simple & sleek
- Implement your theme from the very beginning! (yes- that even means the invitations!)
- Don't get "too" creative! Sometimes we can loose meaning in the message when we get carried away!
- Serve food & drinks that are appropriate to your theme.
- Make sure every guest leaves with some little "take-away" that will remind them of your smashing soiree!

Since it is Friday and we all deserve a little treat....here are a couple of "low-cal" and yes I am serious- "low-cal" recipes for YOUR next "Cocktails and Cupcakes" gathering! Enjoy!

Moroccan Monday!

It's Moroccan Monday and I couldn't be more excited about this colorful storyboard I created for Town & Country School's annual fundraiser, "Summer Soiree!" I must say, there is something Magical about a Moroccan themed event! From the jewel toned colors and gold accents to the stained glass lanterns and plush decorative pillows, all we need is magic carpet to whisk us away!
No Moroccan event is complete without its very own live camel right? Well..... that is my thinking anyways and you guessed it....yes I have found a live camel who will be greeting guests as they arrive and enter into a mystical, Moroccan adventure!
Possibilites are endless when it comes to designing an event and why not do something out of the ordinary? Guests love surprises and love to be "wowed!" Think about shaking things up the next time you plan that big birthday surprise or host a summer bash! The Sky is the limit!

SPA-tacular!!

Happy Friday and hello long weekend!!

As I was sitting on my couch last night working (because yes, I work all day and then come home and work some more!) I realized that I have the best job in the world! Getting to take peoples ideas and dreams and turn them into reality! Does it really get any better than that?

I am working on quite a few projects right now and going a million miles per hour but one project that I am having SO much fun with is a spa themed baby shower (Poolside!) I mean who wouldn't want to attend? Complete with facials, massages, manis and pedis..... I am starting to get a bit jealous myself!

This is such a fun and entertaining theme that you could do for many occasions! What about your daughters next birthday party or for that next bachelorette party you are helping to plan? There are so many cute ideas you can incorporate such as custom robes, monogrammed headbands, stylish flip flops and so much more!

Next time you are wanting to pamper your guests a little bit... keep this SPA-tacular theme in mind and have a little fun!

Cheers!

Hello World!!

Welcome to Farthing Events!! Wow....I can hardly believe it! It seems like yesterday that I was dreaming up the idea of opening my own event planning business and BOOM its here! Now...let me tell you ...it hasn't been "that" easy! A lot of planning, praying, support, sweat and tears has gone into it all! AND now, most exciting of all, I am writing my first blog post!! (go easy on me now!!)

I couldn't think of anything more appropriate to write about than the fabulous fiesta event that I am currently planning for a beautiful husband and wife to be! What a fun way to celebrate an engagement in style and SAS!!! So... you might think throwing a "fiesta" is quite easy..... some sombreros, a few paper flowers, a bucket of Corona and we're good right? Well, if you want to take your event up a notch try throwing in a few of these touches!! How about hiring a Mariachi band or throwing in a signature sangria drink? What about hiring in a chef to cook an authentic Mexican cuisine? Or choose to let loose and incorporate pinatas into the party decor.....your guests are bound to have a great time! And oh yah..don't forget the "complimentary" flip flops for those guests who thought they would be able to samba in their stilettos!!
Until next time, Salud!!
